Corky stalk scar on fruit
( corky peduncular scar )

Large-fruited tomato varieties (multilocular with few seeds per compartment and large central cylinders) often show corky stalk scars rather extensive (Figures 1 and 2). These should be regarded as a harmless defect associated with this type of cultivar.

It should be noted that several rots can start from the stylar and peduncular scars (see the heading Spots on fruit evolving into rotting .
