Phomopsis vexans

Beginning spots on aubergine leaf;  they are rather circular beige to greyish, brown on the periphery.  <b><i>Phomopsis vexans</i></b>.
Large spot on eggplant leaf.  Irregular and necrotic, it is surrounded by a chlorotic halo.  <b><i>Phomopsis vexans</i></b>.
Withering eggplant stalk.  Some leaves turn yellow, wither or even partially dry out.  A dark longitudinal lesion surrounds the stem for several centimeters.  <b><i>Phomopsis vexans</i></b>

A brown lesion surrounds this eggplant twig for several centimeters: it was caused by the parasitism of <b><i>Phomopsis vexans</i></b>.
This eggplant twig shows a lesion extending over several centimeters.  Rather dark to blackish in color on the periphery, it is lighter or even white in its center.  <b><i>Phomopsis vexans</i></b>

Several eggplant twigs are affected by the development of <b><i>Phomopsis vexans</i></b>.  Dark longitudinal lesions encircle them for several centimeters, presenting a black-brown hue, whitening in places.  Many leaves have fallen.
Eggplant stem completely destroyed by <b><i>Phomopsis vexans</i></b>.  Stem and branches are damaged, all the leaves have fallen.
Eggplant twigs necrosed as a result of the development of <b><i>Phomopsis vexans</i></b>.  The inside of the stem appears to have been altered.
<b><i>Phomopsis vexans</i></b> has formed many rather inconspicuous pycnidia on this eggplant twig whose tissues tend to turn white.
Brown to black structures are clearly visible within the tissues of this eggplant stem lesion.  These are pycnidia of <b><i>Phomopsis vexans</i></b>.
A longitudinal section in an eggplant twig invaded by <b><i>Phomopsis vexans</i></b> shows that all the internal tissues are altered, even decomposed.
