Tomato resistance to pests

The first method of protection used against pests was genetic resistance. Thus, plants with better agronomic characteristics and capable of producing in the presence of pests were selected from the start of agriculture. It was from 1900 that a scientific selection began to be made. The efforts of breeders since the 1950s have resulted in the creation of varieties with more and more resistance genes, as we will see later.
