Any chemical treatment may cause problems when used under inappropriate conditions but, in practice, the major problems occur in the following situations:

• Seed tuber treatment

• Losses on emergence, or delayed emergence  

• Treatment against storage rot diseases

• Haulm destruction treatment 

• Treatment with sprouting inhibitors (chlorpropham, ethylene, carvone, etc.)
