Choanephora cucurbitarum

A large lesion alters the stylar end of this melon.  The rotten fabrics have partly collapsed.  <i> <b> Choanephora cucurbitarum </b> </i>
Tissues invaded by <i> <b> Choanephora cucurbitarum </b> </i> are translucent and dark while a mold partially covers them;  it will gradually take on a purple to black tint.
Numerous fruiting bodies in the form of small black pinheads are clearly visible on the surface of damaged tissue.  <i> <b> Choanephora cucurbitarum </b> </i>

Observation under an optical microscope makes it possible to distinguish the primary and secondary vesicles which partly constitute the sporocyst.  <i> <b> Choanephora cucurbitarum </b> </i>
Appearance under a light microscope of brown, fusiform and striated spores of <i> <b> Choanephora cucurbitarum </b> </i>.
