Alternari a tomatophila causes dark brown to black lesions on flower peduncles, petioles and stems. These lesions are rather elongated, have concentric rings and are paler in their center (Figure 1). They can surround the stem and cause dieback of the distal part of the twig (see chapter Leaf spots ). Note that conidia can form on altered tissue (Figure 2)
 

Lesions also develop on the fruits.
