Preventive methods: 

• Control the plants before introduction into a new environment;
• do not plant in conditions favourable to P. cinnamomi and P. cambivora;
• do not plant in infected sites, hence the importance of making a precise diagnosis beforehand.

Use of resistant rootstocks:

It is advisable to graft fruit varieties onto resistant hybrid rootstocks, where soil and climatic conditions and varieties allow.
