Stictocephala bisonia (Kopp & All 1977)

buffalo treehopper

The hartebeest leafhopper (or bison) is a membracid (homoptera with a voluminous pronotum, close to cicadellidae) native to North America introduced in France at the beginning of the 20th century.

The damage caused to the vine is not very important but spectacular by the reddening of the leaves or entire twigs, generated by the insect's egg-laying bites on the twigs or the petioles of the leaves.
