Symptoms of stemphyliose on chilli or pepper

  • Symptoms :
    • Small reddish to brown lesions 1 to 2 mm in diameter becoming lighter in their center.
    • Subsequently, the spots expand and are round in shape, reaching from 3 to 5 mm. of diameter. their center takes on a whitish to gray hue, while their periphery is reddish-brown.
    • Similar but elongated lesions are sometimes visible on petioles and stem.
    • Severely affected leaves turn yellow, dry out, and may drop.

  • Signs : Fruiting bodies of the fungus dot the lesions, sometimes giving them a slightly light gray tint.
  • Possible confusion : rare
