The Alliaceae family is quite cosmopolitan and only includes perennial herbaceous plants, most often bulbous, rarely rhizomatous. Some species have, in addition to sexual reproduction by seeds, a mode of vegetative propagation by bulbils at the level of the stump, or inflorescences.
