Control measures

General measures for the control of free living nematodes can be applied:

• soil fumigation or soil-applied chemicals can provide an efficient control method but are expensive. Green manure could be an alternative; 

• long rotations (minimum 4 years) and the introduction of non-host crops can limit nematode populations as can careful weed and groundkeeper control;

• use of nematode-free seed potato tubers.
