Two spots of latex, pinkish orange to brown, are clearly visible on the midrib on the underside of this salad leaf. Latex "spots"
Secondary bacteria rapidly colonize the altered tissues and amplify the observed browning. Latex "spots"
The islands of cells, where the latex accumulates, eventually rupture; the latter spreads over the surrounding limbus. Latex "spots"
On the side of this curly line, we can clearly see an elongated alteration, split in its center. Latex stains
Latex can be released and be found on some young leaves near the damage; they take on a rather particular rusty hue. Latex "spots"
