Fruitful thinning

 

  • Procedure  : Removal of grapes in excess of production objectives, climate or plant capacity

    • Avoid clustering of bunches and maintain a more aerated microclimate unfavorable to the development of diseases (against Botrytis)
  • Interests of the technique :
    • Adapt the quantity and quality of the harvest in relation to production objectives and soil water constraints
    • Level production from one year to the next
  • Induced effects :
    • Limit the effects of severe droughts
    • Promote precocity
    • Improve the leaf / fruit ratio: better ripening of the grapes
