Basallaceae

The Basellaceae family includes dicotyledonous plants distributed in a few genera with herbaceous, perennial, tuberous or rhizomatous plants, from the tropical regions of Africa, America and Asia.

It includes the genus Basella , with red basella ( B. rubra ) or white basella ( B. alba ), basella , commonly known as Malabar spinach. The young shoots, even the leaves, are eaten raw, for example finely chopped in salads, or cooked quickly like spinach. Even better, you can accompany them with a sauce, or add them to soups, rice, cereals, semolina, stews, etc.
